Amazing Portraits Chiseled into Building Walls

Just when you think the street-art world has exhausted ideas for new types of expression, an artist like Alexandre Farto aka Vhils from Lisbon Portugal comes up with these marvellous feats. Vhils is one of the youngest artists who specializes in street-art; at 25-years-old he is already represented by Steve Lazarides (also the agent that represents Bansky). Vhils’ chiseled wall portraits of ordinary citizens have made us gasp (and of course, say “WHOA!”). Vhils uses a combination of paint, chiseling and negative space to create his portrait works of art. Can you imagine seeing one of these large-scale works in person? It must be amazing. For now, we’ll settle with admiring his work via computer screen, but we WILL keep an eye out for these mega portraits in the streets of various European cities.
