Afrika Bambaata Trying To Create National Hip-Hop Museum In NYC
Few hip-hop pioneers hold as much influence as Afrika Bambaata. That is why he has signed a letter of intention to transform an empty space in the Bronx into the National Museum of Hip-Hop. Being the birthplace of hip-hop, this appears to be the appropriate place to build such a landmark. Unfortunately, Bambaata must beat out a number of other bids that are looking to develop the Kingsbridge Armory in the Bronx. The New York City Economic Development Corporation is probably going to pick a winner by the end of the year, as the famed artist looks to cook up some support from a number of notable figures in hip-hop in the meantime.
This would be a huge win for hip-hop, which has been a staple of New York City and United States culture for decades now. Let us know what you think in the comments section below. [via]
