When it comes to good mixes, look no further than Bassnectar. He continually impresses me with his flawless transitions, psychadelic vocal samples, and excellent song selection. Even when he goes between dubstep to Drumstep/DNB, there is always an interesting mixdown that surprises me with its sheer originality and…well… just Bassnectar styling. His latest mix, a full fledged dubstep/drumstep/DNB journey dubbed ‘Bassnectar’s European Vacation’ is a collection of, which I quote from his soundcloud, “a few insane bangers which I decided to compile for my month long European Vacation!” And DAMN, was it insane… Throughout the mix there are a total of four brand new remixes that I’ve never heard of by him. Sadly, I was only able to get my hands on two of them for your downloading pleasure.

The tracks available include ‘Modeselektor & Ninjaman – Weed Wid da Macka (Bassnectar Remix)’ which is a drumstep/DNB hybrid that brings together the reggae vocals of the original and some Bassnectar mojo that raises the intensity by at least an order of magnitude. The other one is a Trap’d out remix of Vava Voom ft. Lupe Fiasco which, as Bassnectar states, “is closer to how [I] wanted the track to sound.” Personally, I am a bigger fan of this version than the original dubstep one. I feel the drop in the original takes a bit too long to finally drop.
